Car wash finds wedding band, rings the bell to locate owner

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla.

A Florida car wash attendant said he found a “big ol’ ring” inside one of the business’s vacuums, and now the station wants to reunite that wedding band with its owner.

Roy Morganthaler of Quick and Clean Car Wash in Panama City Beach told the News Herald that he was cleaning the inside of the vacuums last month, and his jaw dropped when he discovered the ring.

Manager Marcus Worthington said earlier in January, a woman stopped by asking whether anyone found a wedding ring but didn’t leave her name or number. Worthington said the business is trying to find her and has checked Craigslist and posted signs about the ring.

Worthington said the car wash has found items such as keys and necklaces before, but nothing like this ring.

Twin sisters in California share $6 million lottery jackpot

SAN FRANCISCO

Twin sisters in California will share a $6 million lottery jackpot after one of them lucked out with a winning ticket.

Lisa Toton said she purchased several tickets after spotting a yellow ladybug, which she’d never seen before. She took it as a sign to stop by a minimart.

When she learned she had a winning scratcher, she contacted her sister, Laura Poorman, to join her at the lottery’s San Francisco-area office to jointly claim the prize.

“Jackpot Scratcher, come home. $6 million, I’m shaking!” Toton wrote to Poorman in a text.

The fraternal sisters with identical voices have been buying lottery tickets since they were 18. They declined to give their age to lottery officials but did share what they’d like to do with the money. Toton said she may buy a vacation home and a black GMC Vandura cargo van. Her sister wants to pay off student loans and buy a house.

Waitress accused of spiking co-worker’s drink with meth

DAWSONVILLE, Ga.

A waitress has been arrested on charges that she spiked a co-worker’s drink with methamphetamine during their late-night shift at a Waffle House in northern Georgia, causing the drugged man to be hospitalized in a comatose state.

Dawson County sheriff’s investigators spent nearly two months collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses before they arrested 43-year-old Sonserea Dawn Evans last week, said Capt. Tony Wooten, the sheriff’s spokesman. She remained jailed Thursday on charges of illegal drug possession and aggravated battery.

Wooten declined to name Evans’ 37-year-old co-worker but said the man is still battling to recover from a drug overdose that left him critically ill for weeks after he collapsed Dec. 23 at the restaurant.
