Tax collection closes March 4
Staff report
YOUNGSTOWN
Mahoning County property owners will receive their first-half real-estate tax bills by mail in the coming days, and there are many available payment methods, county Treasurer Daniel R. Yemma said.
The deadline to pay without penalty is March 4. Property owners who do not receive statements by Monday should call the treasurer’s office at 330-740-2460 to confirm payment amounts or request copies of bills.
Taxpayers also may pay both first- and second-half taxes with one payment.
To increase efficiency and reduce cost, Yemma encourages property owners to pay their taxes online.
To increase the number of transactions online, the 60-cent convenience fee normally charged will be waived on all electronic check payments made during the tax-collection period.
Visit the treasurer’s website, http://treasurer.mahoningcountyoh.gov, for more information on electronic-check and credit- card payments.
A pay-by-phone option is available at 888-891-6064. (Select option 1.)
The treasurer’s office is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, for taxpayers who prefer to pay in person.
Payments also may be mailed to the treasurer’s office, 120 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44503. Any payment that is postmarked on or before March 4 will be considered on time.
Payments also may be made at the Seven Seventeen Credit Union or Cortland Banks.
