Man arrested in connection with Wednesday shooting death

YOUNGSTOWN — U.S. Marshals arrested Kimani Hodges on the city's South Side late Wednesday night in connection with the shooting death of Jason Fonseca.

In a statement this morning, city police said they issued an arrest warrant for aggravated murder after conferring with the city prosecutor.

Police were called to a 176 Ayers St. home just before 3 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a man down in the street and a possible shooting. They found Fonseca, 21, dead in the street near his driveway.

His death is the city’s second homicide of 2016.
