Snowmobiles take to the streets in Boardman, Youngstown

Boardman Township and Youngstown police observed an odd sight during Tuesday's snow storm: people driving a snowmobile on main roads.

According to a township police report, a police officer saw a snowmobile with two riders traveling northbound on South Avenue about 2 a.m. Tuesday.

The officer, with the assistance of backup police, unsuccessfully attempted to stop the snowmobile. The pursuit ended at Mathews Road.

Later, Youngstown police reportedly observed a snowmobile driving across the Market Street bridge downtown at an estimated speed of 70 mph. They, too, were unable to stop the driver, according to the report.
