ALLENTOWN, Pa.
An autopsy is planned today on the body of an unidentified woman found inside a recycling container at an eastern Pennsylvania apartment building, authorities said.
Police in Lehigh County said the body was found Sunday afternoon in a bag in the 55-gallon container in the parking lot of the East Tilghman Street complex in Allentown.
Assistant Chief Glen Dorney said a resident throwing a bag into the large blue recycling container reported a foul odor. He said it was unclear how long the body had been there.
Dorney said the death of the woman, who hasn’t been identified, is considered suspicious and is being investigated by Allentown police and the coroner’s office as well as the county district attorney’s office and homicide task force.
Coroner Scott Grim said an autopsy is planned to determine the cause of death.
The coroner’s office is seeking help from the public in identifying the woman, who was described as between 18 and 30 years old, of Asian descent, about 5 feet tall or 5-foot-1 and 119 pounds with short black hair.
