Lincoln Knolls IGA to close in March

The Lincoln Knolls IGA Store, located at 2980 McCartney Road, will cease operations at the close of business March 12, Nemenz Food Stores announced Monday.

The Save-A-Lot store, also on McCartney Road, will remain open, even after the IGA supermarket closes.

“The painful decision to close the Lincoln Knolls IGA Store came after careful deliberations of the Nemenz portfolio of stores and the decision was made due to under performance at that one location,” a statement from the company reads. “Nemenz tried several initiatives over the last few years at this location but [the company was] at a disadvantage.”

The Lincoln Knolls store opened in 2005.

About 40 employees work at the Lincoln Knolls store. Employees interested in transferring to another Nemenz Family store will be offered a position.

All other Nemenz Family stores will remain open, including the Nemenz IGA in Struthers, at 655 Creed St.
