WARREN
Two people crashed their cars, one was asleep in his car, another was walking down the road, and two others were arrested after a traffic stop – all with suspected illegal drugs or drug paraphernalia in their possession – during a busy weekend for drug activity in the city.
Logan T. Barrett, 27, of Indiana and Ivy Hill Circle in Bazetta, will be arraigned today in Warren Municipal Court on charges of possessing drug-abuse instruments and driving under suspension after an accident at 1:07 p.m. Friday at 630 W. Market St.
Ambulance personnel administered two doses of naloxone, an opiate-reversal drug, to Barrett after finding him uninjured but not breathing normally after he ran his car into a pole. Police found drug paraphernalia on the front seat.
He was taken to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital and then to the Trumbull County Jail. He also was detained on earlier charges from the Bazetta Police Department.
At 3:18 p.m. Sunday, police found a 31-year-old Niles man slumped over the wheel of his car after driving it into a snow bank in the 1600 block of West Market Street. The vehicle was still running.
A Warren officer knocked on the window, and the man woke up but looked confused. The officer saw a syringe on the seat next to the man, who said it was heroin and it was his. He told the officer he had done heroin about five minutes before driving into the snow bank.
He was taken to TMH, and the clear liquid in the syringe was taken as evidence. A determination of charges will be made after the liquid is analyzed, police said.
At 11 p.m. Thursday, police found Eddie Morgan III, 24, of Akron slumped over the wheel of his car in the parking lot of an apartment at Fourth Street Southwest.
Morgan woke up after the officer knocked on the window, but officers could smell marijuana and searched the vehicle and found suspected heroin and crack cocaine under the driver’s seat. Police also found $734 in cash and digital scales in the car.
Not-guilty pleas were entered for him Friday in Warren Municipal Court to two counts of aggravated drug trafficking and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released from the county jail Friday afternoon after posting bond.
Police arrested Kelly C. Ryan, 39, of Coventry Avenue Northeast, at 3:02 p.m. Friday and took her to the county jail after officers found her walking on Mercer Avenue Northeast and discovered she had warrants.
Upon searching her, police found a bindle of suspected heroin, a crack pipe and bags of syringes in her clothing. Police will consult with the prosecutor today regarding a possible heroin-possession charge.
She was issued summonses on charges of possessing drug-abuse instruments and possessing drug paraphernalia.
Police arrested Terrance R. Belden Jr., 31, of Center Street West, Champion, and Cassidy L. Fleck, 25, of Trumbull Drive, Niles, at 11:52 p.m. Saturday at Larchmont Avenue Northeast and Elm Road after officers observed the car in which they were riding commit a turning violation at Elm Road and Scott Street.
Officers found hypodermic needles and suspected crack cocaine in Belden’s clothing. They also found a syringe, crack pipe and metal spoon in Fleck’s clothing.
Belden and Fleck were booked into the jail, but Fleck was released on a summons.
