cops find almost $900 in two separate arrests, charge two with drug offenses

Police found almost $900 in cash and charged two people with drug offenses over the weekend.
On Saturday, Stacey Thomas, 24, of Fifth Street in Warren, was cited with possession of drugs after officers Brian Ferreri and Anthony Trimble were called about 2:10 p.m. to the Western Reserve Transit Authority bus station at 340 W. Federal St.
Reports said a security guard there saw Thomas in a restroom show a bag of suspected marijuana to another person and the guard took Thomas into custody, then called police.
When police arrived, they found a bag of suspected marijuana and searched Thomas, finding 19 pills and $696 cash, reports said.
The officers asked Thomas if he was selling drugs at the station, and he told them the drugs were his but were for his personal use, reports said.
Thomas was issued a citation and released.
Just after 5 p.m. Friday, vice squad officers James Welch and Frank Bigowsky pulled over a car in a 2519 Glenwood Ave. parking lot for driving left of center and found out the driver, Randall Hover, 27, of Eddie Street, has a suspended license.
A passenger, Andre Barnette, 24, of Judson Avenue, appeared very nervous, reports said. When he was searched, officers found two bags of suspected crack cocaine in his waistband, reports said. Also found inside the car were two scales, and Barnette also had two pills and $202 cash, reports said.
Barnette was taken to the Mahoning County jail on charges of possession of crack cocaine, possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is expected to be arraigned in municipal court today.
Hover was given a citation for driving under suspension and released.
