88-year-old Warren woman injured after purse snatching

WARREN — An 88-year-old woman who lives in the 1500 block of Mahoning Avenue Northwest was knocked to the ground, causing an apparent fractured hip, when a male stole her purse as she got out of her car late Monday morning.

The woman said she had parked her car in the garage and was leaving the vehicle when the male came from behind and snatched her purse, causing her to fall. She was lying on the ground when a police officer arrived at 11:45 a.m. Neighbors had put blankets on her while waiting for ambulance personnel to arrive.

The woman described her attacker as a white male wearing a coat with a fur hood. The hospital reported the woman probably has a fractured hip and possibly a broken arm.
