PSU sponsors gardening workshops

MERCER, PA.

Penn State Master Gardeners of Mercer County will sponsor a series of workshops at the Penn State Extension-Mercer County office, 463 North Perry Highway.

“From the Ground Up” will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 27. Participants will learn about organic and sustainable techniques that develop rich and nourishing soils for optimal plant growth.

Featured speaker will be Keith McNeish, accredited organic landscape professional/master gardener of Allegheny County.

The cost is $10 per person and includes a light lunch. The registration deadline is next Monday.

“Pruning Made Easy” will take place from 1 to 2:30 p.m. March 12. Participants will learn how to choose the right tools for the job, when to prune and why, and what to remove and what to keep. Bring pruning tools and questions. Fruit trees will not be covered at this workshop.

This is an outdoor event, so dress for the weather.

The cost is $10 per person. The registration deadline is March 8.
