Boardman, Harding teams advance to district

The Boardman High School boys bowling team and the Warren Harding girls team have qualified for the Division I district tournament.
Sunday at McKinley Lanes, the Raiders won the girls tournament by rolling 3,484, 16 pins more than Stow-Munroe Falls. Twinsburg was third with 3,184, 16 pins ahead of fourth-place Fitch.
The top three teams plus the top three individuals not on those teams advance.
In the boys competition, Boardman rolled 3,839 to finish third. Nordonia won with 3,859, 12 pins more than Stow-Munroe Falls.
The district tournament will be Sunday at Roseland Lanes in Bedford.
Girls
Kent’s Emily Byles won the girls tournament with 600 (195-200-205). She finished nine pins ahead of Boardman’s Alexis Grim (240-182-169—591).
Warren Harding’s Brianna Nolen rolled a 559 to finish third. The other Raiders are Taylor Arquette, Constance Clauss, Emily Oswalt, Katelyn Daugherty and Natalie Hall.
Fitch’s Alysha Harris was fifth with 523 to qualify.
Boys
Harding’s Tavish Burd won the tournament with 652 (202-231-219). Howland’s Zach Campbell was second with 621 (231-212-178). Canfield’s Andrew Letscher finished fourth to qualify with 607 (205-199-203).
Sean Sullivan’s 597 and Nate Needham’s 591 led the Spartans. Also on the team are Michael Parise, Brian Stanchin, Chase Felger and Bobby Morrell.
