YOUNGSTOWN

Mahoning Soil & Water Conservation District, 850 Industrial Road, is selling locally produced and bagged fresh, wild birdseed.

The cost for a 25-pound bag of mixed seed is $10, which includes 40 percent sunflower, 20 percent millet, 20 percent wheat and 20 percent cracked corn.

The cost for a 25-pound bag of black oil sunflower seed is $16; and a 10-pound bag of thistle seed is $9.

Bags can be picked up Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Call 330-740-7995 to place an order.

Remove decorations

All Christmas decorations and wreaths must be removed from Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 5400 Market St., by Feb. 29. Spring cleanup begins March 7. Spring flowers can be placed in vases only beginning March 18.

Identity theft

The Liberty Historical Society invites interested township residents to a presentation on identity theft at 10 a.m. March 3 during the regular monthly meeting at the township building, 1315 Church Hill-Hubbard Road.

Beaver Twp. Park

NORTH LIMA

Beaver Township Park is accepting reservations for pavilion rentals. Pavilions, open May 1 through Oct. 31, are at Woodworth and Memorial parks. The rental fee is $60 for residents and $95 for nonresidents.

The park board also seeks volunteers to join Friends of the Park, which helps with programs such as “Music in the Park” and with projects such as planting flowers.

The park has begun its annual sponsorship program. Any resident or business interested in sponsoring a park program should contact the park by May 1.

EGCC Foundation gets new executive director

STEUBENVILLE

James Baber is the new executive director of the Eastern Gateway Community College Foundation and Office for Institutional Advancement.

“Dr. James Baber was the perfect choice for this key position based upon the depth and breadth of his community involvement and his demonstrated commitment to student success,” Jimmie Bruce, president of EGCC, said in a news release. “The three tenets of the mission for the EGCC Foundation perfectly describe Dr. Baber: student centered, community connected and future focused. Jim Baber epitomizes these tenets.” The promotion is effective immediately.

Wellness seminar series

Howland

The Howland Health & Wellness Committee continues its wellness seminar series at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. The seminar, which is free and open to the public, will take place at Shepherd of the Valley, 4100 N. River Road. Refreshments will be provided.

Brian Gustafson, gym manager with Fitness Together, will discuss the role strength training and cardiovascular exercise plays in overall health and how to safely incorporate them into a daily routine.
