North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive, will show the movie “War Room” at 6 p.m. Feb. 21. It is about the power of prayer.

Lenten retreat at Walsh

NORTH CANTON

Walsh University will host the Encounter Lenten Retreat at 8 p.m. Feb. 22-25 in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel. These events are free and open to the public. Presentations will be by speaker and worship leader, Teresa Peterson.

Presentations and activities will be: Feb. 22, “Encountering Christ, the Source of Mercy” with Reconciliation and Divine Mercy Chaplet; Feb. 23, “Encountering Christ in the Eucharist” with Eucharistic Adoration until 3 a.m.; Feb. 24, “Creating Encounters with Christ” followed by a ministry social; and Feb. 25, Ignite, a student-led worship night with Eucharistic adoration.

Peterson is a Catholic recording artist from Philadelphia.

She has partnered with Penn Newman Center, Philadelphia, to start a monthly adoration and worship night for university students.

Groening lecture planned

The Bruno Groening Circle of Friends will have a 90-minute lecture, featuring Arlene Barkan, leader of the Youngstown and Cleveland Communities, and Internet Children’s Community of North America, at 6 p.m. Thursday at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 550 N. Broad St.

A short documentary film will be shown. Admission is free.

The Circle of Friends is not affiliated with Lord of Life Lutheran Church, or any other religion. Bruno Groening (1906-59) was a German healer who taught about the power of faith in overcoming disease. The Circle of Friends passes on his teachings through information lectures.

To attend community hours, participants must be introduced at an information lecture.
