A man reports said dragged his girlfriend out of bed at 5 a.m. because their house wasn’t clean enough for him is in the Mahoning County jail on $5,000 bond.
Charles Pargo, 25, was arraigned Friday on a misdemeanor charge of assault before Judge Elizabeth Kobly, for the attack Wednesday in his Birch Street home.
The 33-year-old victim told police who were called to the home that Pargo pulled her out of the bed and punched her in the back of the head because he was unhappy with how the house looked.
The assault took place in front of the victim’s child, reports said.
Charged with DUI
GIRARD
Police arrested a man Friday morning for driving under the influence.
Officers stopped Marcus Hollenbank, 30, of Girard at Church Hill Road and Washington Avenue at about 1:30 a.m. on a charge of reckless driving.
A police report states Hollenbank had glassy eyes, smelled of alcohol and could not keep his balance. Hollenbank registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.258, police reported. The legal intoxication limit in Ohio is 0.08.
Police also issued traffic citations to Hollenbank for driving left of center and failure to yield when turning left.

The next “Five Minutes with the Mayor” will take place at 5 p.m. Tuesday with Mayor John A. McNally in his office on the first floor of city hall, 26 S. Phelps St.

Marijuana charges
CAMPBELL
A traffic stop early Friday led to a city man’s arrest on charges of possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Police stopped Brandon Bankston, 22, of Campbell near McCartney Road for not using headlights, according to a police report.
Officers searched the car due to a smell of marijuana and found a glass pipe and 11.9 grams of suspected marijuana, police reported.
Bankston will be arraigned on the charges Tuesday in Campbell Municipal Court.
Check on elderly

With the National Weather Service in Cleveland monitoring an arctic blast that may dip wind-chill temperatures from 10 to 25 degrees below zero this weekend, the Area Agency on Aging 11 Inc. is advising older adults to be cautious about going outside.
The agency encourages residents to check on elderly neighbors.
Those checking on an older or disabled person should make sure there is an adequate food supply, as well as access to nonperishable food that can be prepared without electricity if need be.
It also is important to ensure there is access to clean drinking water and that there is a person to contact in case of emergency.
Turnpike tech upgrade
BEREA
From 9 a.m. to about 4 p.m. Monday, the Ohio Turnpike will be upgrading its technology network to improve customer service. During these upgrades, credit-card transactions will be unavailable at all turnpike toll booths.
In addition, access to www.ohioturnpike.org and www.ezpassoh.com will be unavailable to customers until service is restored by 4 p.m., according to a turnpike-commission news release.
Revived by Narcan
YOUNGSTOWN
Youngstown State University police say a man found passed out in a car Thursday afternoon was revived by the anti-opiate drug Narcan.
University police were called at about 2:10 p.m. to a parking lot behind Bliss Hall, where they found the man. University spokesman Ron Cole said the man was unresponsive until he received the Narcan.
The man was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. Cole said police are still investigating, and no charges have been filed.
