Strongman fitness demo set Saturday at Arlington Heights rec center

YOUNGSTOWN — A Strongman Showman competition between men, women and youth to determine strength, athletics and mental durability is set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Arlington Heights Recreation Center, 903 Otis St.

This new event aims to establish components of the Youngstown fitness movement, and create opportunities for inner-city youth to engage in a positive life change.

Guests at the event will include Brandy Schumaker, a professional bodybuilder and national level strongman competitor; Ashley Lawrence, a U.S. Strongman nationals women’s champion who has three USS national records; Shawn Schumaker, USS state chairman and national level competitor who has the middleweight strongman national record; and Willie Wessels, president and founder of USS and established strongman and power lifter.
