Man accused of stealing sapphires from Ohio museum indicted
CLEVELAND (AP) — A part-time university employee accused of stealing sapphires from a Cleveland museum has been indicted on grand theft and vandalism charges.
Cuyahoga County court documents show 36-year-old Hans Wrage was indicted this month on charges stemming from a theft of seven of the gemstones from the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.
Wrage pleaded not guilty in his initial court appearance Dec. 14 and is set to be arraigned Feb. 17. A message seeking comment was left at his attorney’s office today. Wrage doesn’t have a publicly listed home telephone number.
Investigators say a display case was smashed Dec. 3 and gemstones worth $81,000 were taken.
