YOUNGSTOWN

A Columbiana man is in the Mahoning County jail after police said he had 10 pills in his pocket about 7:15 p.m. Monday in a 2525 Market St. parking lot.

Reports said officer Mark Sember saw a car in the parking lot and went to investigate because there have been several drug arrests there and also, the car was parked far away from other vehicles, reports said.

Reports said one of the occupants, Michael Callahan, 35, appeared nervous and had a hard time answering Sember’s questions. Reports said he did give Sember permission to search him and he told Sember he had the pills. Sember found the pills in a coat pocket, reports said.

School-bus crash

No injuries were reported in a crash involving a LaBrae Schools bus and a sport utility vehicle at the intersection of North River Road and Woodside Drive at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the school bus, driven by Pauline Stone, 38, of Warren, was northbound on Woodside and stopped at North River Road. As the bus entered the intersection it was struck by the SUV driven by Linda Fittipaldo, 64, of Warren, who was eastbound on North River Road.

There were 14 children on the bus at the time. The patrol cited Stone for failure to yield.

Youngstown woman faces drug charges

A Youngstown woman faces a drug-possession charge after a township police officer purportedly found suspected crack cocaine during a traffic stop Monday night.

Charged is Angie Lopez, 39, of Tod Lane.

Police reportedly found small plastic bags, each containing suspected crack cocaine, on her after stopping her in the area of Southern Boulevard and Ferncliffe Avenue, police report said. Lopez also was found to have several license suspensions.

Police investigate two car accidents

YOUNGSTOWN

Police were kept busy answering two accident calls late Tuesday afternoon on different sides of town.

About 3:30 p.m., a Jeep flipped over several times at Wirt Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard on the North Side, a spokesman for the department said. One person was injured in that crash.

Minutes later, there was a three-vehicle accident at Struthers-Liberty and McCartney roads on the East Side. There was no word late Tuesday if there were any injuries in that crash.
