Sentencing will take place Feb. 22 in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court for a man who pleaded guilty to charges of illegally having a firearm and threatening a woman at a Boardman hotel.

Adam Perkins, 21, of Logan Arms in Girard, pleaded guilty before Judge Shirley J. Christian to charges of aggravated menacing, a misdemeanor; carrying a concealed weapon, a felony; and a felony charge of being a felon in illegal possession of a firearm.

Kevin Trapp, an assistant county prosecutor, said he is recommending 18 months in prison. Defense counsel Terry Grenga said she will be arguing for less time at the sentencing hearing.

Perkins was arrested after police were called about 11:45 p.m. Nov. 26 to the Boardman Inn, 7109 Market St., by a woman who said Perkins was threatening her.

When officers arrived, the 25-year-old victim was at the front desk with an employee and Perkins also was there, reports said. Reports said the victim told officers Perkins had a gun and when officers searched him, they found a loaded .22-caliber revolver, reports said.

Reports said the victim told police Perkins threatened her when she told him she wanted him to leave her room, reports said.

Court records show Perkins pleaded guilty and was sentenced in December 2014 to probation on a felony charge of possession of cocaine. That conviction bars him from having a firearm.
