Answers sought after male bus driver poses as elderly woman

CRANSTON, R.I.

Some Rhode Island city councilors want to know more about a middle-age male senior center van driver who posed as an elderly woman during a press conference.

WJAR-TV reported that the council debated the fallout from the January stunt. The Cranston Senior Center’s van driver posed as a woman for an event about a snow-shoveling program.

Senior-services director Sue Stenhouse resigned soon after.

Few details have been divulged since then. But some mostly Democratic council members want more answers from Republican Mayor Allan Fung.

Some mainly Republican council members say the case has been closed. Councilman Donald Blotts says it doesn’t make a difference whether the senior-services director resigned on her own or the mayor asked for her resignation.

Republicans blocked a move to question the mayor’s staff behind closed doors.

Prank call leads to fast-food employees smashing windows

TUCSON, Ariz.

Police in Tucson, Ariz., said pranksters convinced employees at a fast-food restaurant to smash windows by pretending to be a fire-suppression company.

The employees received a call around 1 a.m. Tuesday saying that the gas levels were high and that the building needed to be evacuated.

The prankster also convinced employees to smash every window of the building to prevent it from exploding.

Police say the call was illegal because it resulted in criminal damage.

Tucson police are investigating the prank.

Branded for Bernie: Dozens get inked with free Sanders tattoo

MONTPELIER, Vt.

Fans of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders are wearing their support for him on their sleeves – and on their rib cages, calves, necks and backs.

Several dozen people have flocked to Aartistic Tattoo in Montpelier, Vt., to get a free tattoo of the senator, complete with his unkempt hair and thick-rimmed glasses.

The Burlington Free Press reported that the promotion began a week ago.

Tattoo artist Chad Fay says it will run as long as Sanders does.

Tattoo artist Jessica Andrew tells the newspaper she inked Sanders’ image on eight people in two days.

Fay says he’s done at least 15 tattoos of Sanders in the past week.
