‘The Imperfectionists’ to be discussed

Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St., will host its monthly book discussion at 7 p.m. Feb. 23 in the library’s Quaker Room and discuss “The Imperfectionists” by Tom Rachman. The novel is a series of connected stories about the private lives of the reporters and editors of an international newspaper in Rome.
The event is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
The book discussion group meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Books may be borrowed from the Adult Services Department.

Pig Iron Press will host literary events

Pig Iron Press and the Pig Iron Literary and Art Works will host an open poetry series on the second Tuesday of each month at the Pig Iron Press building, 26 N. Phelps St. The February event is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, and PIP publisher and teacher Jim Villani will host.
Poets and writer are invited to share their work, reflections or favorite selections for up to eight minutes at the podium. Sign-up for readings will be at the door.
Poetry readings also are planned for March 8, April 12, May 10, June 14, July 12, Aug. 9, Sept. 13, Oct. 11, Nov. 8 and Dec. 13.
Villani also facilitates a Work in Progress writing workshop at the PIP building on the fourth Tuesday of each month; it is scheduled to take place Feb. 25. For more information about the programs, call 330-747-6932.
