Austintown Senior Center, 100 Westchester Drive, has planned the following: Monday, active exercise at 8 a.m., 30 minutes with God and piloxing at 9, monthly membership meeting at 9:30, senior spinning (I), bingo, painting class, quilting and shooting class at 10, advanced computer class at 11:30, lunch at noon and instructor’s choice at 1:15 p.m.; Tuesday, active exercise at 8 a.m., pilates and video class on physics at 9, S.O.S. at 9:30, bingo, quilting and crocheting at 10, line dancing at 10:30, chair yoga and iPad class at 11:30, lunch at noon and AARP monthly meeting at 1 p.m.; Wednesday, active exercise at 8 a.m., 30 minutes with God, video class on great structures and blood pressure checks at 9, intermediate computer class, bingo, quilting and senior spinning (E) at 10, advanced computer class at 11:30, $3 pizza party at noon, TOPS at 12:15 p.m. and pump at 1:15; Thursday, active exercise at 8 a.m., video class on South America, vets helping vets and wood carving at 9, S.O.S. at 9:30, chair yoga, quilting and crocheting at 10, knitting at 11 and lunch/grocery/bingo at noon; Friday, active exercise at 8 a.m., 30 minutes with God, video class on military blunders and senior spinning (S) at 9, senior spinning (E) at 9:30, bingo and quilting at 10, fencing at 10:30 and 11:30, and Valentine’s Day party at 11:30. Gathering Place event will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday at Lord of Life Church, 550 N. Broad St., Canfield. Attorney Elizabeth Bernard will participate in a question-and-answer session at 11:30. Lunch will be provided. Reservations were taken. This is a free community outreach social program offered to all senior citizens on the second Monday of each month. Girard Multi-Generational Center, 443 Trumbull Ave., is sponsoring an AARP Tax Aide Program for those with moderate to low income and all senior citizens each Tuesday and Thursday through April 14. Guardian Angels of Ohio, a volunteer guardianship program of Trumbull County Probate Court, is looking for new volunteers. The next monthly meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Shepherd of the Valley, 4100 N. River Road, Warren. Angels reach out in friendship to people who are elderly and alone in Trumbull County by providing trained, qualified volunteers to serve as advocates. Angels also are involved in planning special events for seniors, such as health fairs and Make a Difference Day projects. Niles S.C.O.P.E. Senior Center, 14 E. State St., is offering a variety of events and services. Free tax preparation by the AARP Tax Aide Program will be offered for those with moderate to low income and for senior citizens with simple returns, each Friday from through April 15, excluding Good Friday on March 25. Taxes will be done by appointment only from 9 a.m. through 1:30 p.m. Mike Wilson, assistant director of the center, will portray President William McKinley from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. There will be a free lunch. A dental van will stop at the center from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 15 and 22. A hygienist will be available to offer cleanings and a dentist for dental procedures; services are free to those whole qualify. Dr. Thomas Pokabla of Podiatry Services will visit the center from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 19. Take insurance cards as co-pays will apply. Appointments are required. Senior Independence Senior Center of Mahoning County, 1110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, will welcome AARP tax experts from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays and Fridays through April 11. Experts will assist seniors over 60 with the preparation of their tax forms; take last year’s tax return along with all 2014 information. The return will be filed electronically, and all parties must be present to sign the return. Free coffee and doughnuts will be provided by Greenbriar Healthcare Center and the Commons at Greenbriar. Donations to the center for the service are appreciated. Filings are by appointment only, call the center at 330-744-5071. Total Lifetime Care Insurance Richard Schlue Agency is sponsoring a Valentine’s Day dance from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 14. There will be entertainment by John Ruman, dancing, desserts, raffles and door prizes. Cost for center members is $2 and $5 for guests. Reservations were taken.
