The State Highway Patrol says a trooper was injured after a motorist dragged him 50 feet during a traffic stop in northeast Ohio.

A statement from the patrol’s Ravenna post said Sgt. Jeffery Greene was injured in a traffic stop around 7:30 Saturday on State Route 225 in Atwater Township in Portage County.

Authorities say Greene was talking to the driver when the driver started the engine of his vehicle and pulled away, dragging Greene. The patrol says Greene returned to his patrol vehicle and pursued the car about six miles before ending the chase.

Authorities say Greene was treated and released for minor injuries and an arrest warrant was issued for the driver.

No additional details were released. The investigation is continuing
