Butler man killed in 1-car crash


BUTLER, PA.

A Butler man was killed early Saturday when he missed a left curve traveling south on state Route 173 near Rocket Drive in Slippery Rock Township and his car hit a stone sign foundation and a wooden fence, tipped over on the driver’s side and stopped in a private yard.

Pronounced dead at the scene by the Butler County coroner was Andrew T. Chupka, 23, who was alone in the vehicle and wearing a seat belt, reported Pennsylvania State Police Butler Post. The vehicle, a 2006 Chevrolet sedan, sustained severe damage, said police, who were assisted by the Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Department.
