Area churches plan services for Ash Wednesday, Feb. 10. This marks the beginning of Lent, a season of spiritual renewal.

CATHOLIC

Christ Our Savior Parish, Masses will be at 7 and 9 a.m. and 3:15 and 6 p.m. at St. Nicholas Church, 764 Fifth St., Struthers, and 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 250 N. Bridge St., Struthers.

Holy Apostles Parish, ecumenical service set at 7 p.m. at St. Stephen of Hungary, 854 Wilson Ave., Youngstown, with Ambassadors for Christ and Mass at 5:30 p.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Croatian Catholic Church, 421 Covington St., Youngstown.

Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4490 Norquest Blvd., Austintown: Masses will be at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Via Mount Carmel, Youngstown: Masses will be at 7 a.m., noon and 7 p.m. with imposition of ashes.

Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish, 291 Scoville Drive, Vienna: Holy hour of reparation is planned at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Blessing of ashes and distribution will be before the 8 a.m. Mass and there also will be Mass at 7 p.m.

St. Charles Borromeo Church, 7345 Westview Drive, Boardman: Masses planned at 7 and 8:30 a.m., 12:10 and 7 p.m.

St. Christine Church, 3165 S. Schenley Ave., Youngstown: Masses with distribution of ashes will be at 7 and 9 a.m., and 6 p.m. and service with distribution of ashes at noon.

St. Columba Cathedral, 154 W. Wood St., Youngstown: Masses with distribution of ashes will be at 12:10 and 6 p.m.

St. Dominic Church, 76 E. Lucius Ave., Youngstown: Masses with distribution of ashes at 6:30 and 8 a.m., and noon.

St. Edward Church, 240 Tod Lane, Youngstown: Masses with ashes will be at 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.

St. Joseph Church, 4545 New Road, Austintown: Masses with ashes will be at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. and liturgy with ashes at noon.

St. Michael Church, 300 N. Broad St., Canfield: Mass will be at 9 a.m. with ashes and Liturgy of the Word with ashes at 12:15, 5:30 and 7 p.m.

St. Patrick Church, 357 N. Main St., Hubbard: Masses with distribution of ashes will be at 8:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. and Liturgy of the Word with ashes at noon.

St. Patrick Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave., Youngstown: Masses with distribution of ashes at 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

St. Rose Church, 48 E. Main St., Girard: Masses are planned at 7 and 8:30 a.m., noon and 7 p.m. with distribution of ashes and Lituragy of the Word with distribution of ashes at 3:30 p.m.

COVENANT

Faith Community Covenant Church, 1919 E. Midlothian Blvd., Youngstown: Service will be at 7 p.m. in the chapel with reflection through song and Scripture and imposition of ashes.

EPISCOPAL

St. James Episcopal Church, 7640 Glenwood Ave., Boardman: Services are set at noon and 7 p.m.

St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave., Youngstown: Liturgy with imposition of ashes are scheduled at noon and 7 p.m.

LUTHERAN

Bethel Lutheran Church, 425 Crestview Drive, Boardman: Ash Wednesday services are set at noon and 7 p.m. with a potluck dinner at 5:45 p.m.

Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 1110 N. Salem-Warren Road, North Jackson: Service is at 7 p.m.

Good Hope Lutheran Church, 98 Homestead Drive, Boardman: Services are planned with imposition of ashes at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 162 S. Raccoon Road, Austintown: Worship is scheduled at 7 p.m. with imposition of ashes and Holy Communion.

Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 550 N. Broad St., Canfield: Worship is planned at noon and 7 p.m. with Holy Communion and impositio of ashes.

Martin Luther Lutheran Church, 420 Clearmount Drive, Youngstown: Worship with imposition of ashes will be at noon and 6:30 p.m. A soup lunch will follow the afternoon service.

Prince of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2985 Center Road, Poland: Shrove Tuesday pancake and sausage supper will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and a free-will offering will be accepted. Ash Wednesday worship will be at noon and 7 p.m. with ashes and Holy Communion.

Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2305 S. Canfield-Niles Road, Austintown: Service is planned at 7 p.m. with Holy Communion and ashes; dinner will be at 6 p.m.

Trinity Lutheran Church, 78 E. Liberty St., Girard: Service is planned at 7 p.m. with Holy Communion and ashes.

Zion Lutheran Church, 10857 Main St., New Middletown: Imposition of ashes will be offered from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A dinner will be at 6 p.m. in fellowship hall and a worship service with ashes and Holy Communion will be at 7:30 p.m.

Zion Lutheran Church, 3300 Canfield Road, Youngstown: Services at noon and 7 p.m. with Holy Communion and imposition of ashes.

METHODIST

Brookfield United Methodist Church, 6951 Grove St., Brookfield: 7 p.m. service for Living Waters churches is planned.

First United Methodist Church, 22 N. Market St., Girard: Joint service with other Methodist congregations at 7 p.m. with choir from Tod United Methodist Church and message from Grace Unitd Methodist Church.

Trinity United Methodist Church, 30 W. Front St., Youngstown: The Rev. Jerry Krueger will distribute ashes from noon to 1 p.m. Ash Wednesday in the Chapel of Friendly Bells. A service will be at 6 p.m.

Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, Canfield: A service is set for 7 p.m. with meditation, imposition of ashes and Holy Communion. A dinner will be at 6 p.m. For reservations, call the church at 330-792-5805.

Ambassadors for Christ, the 17th annual ecumenical service will be at 7 p.m. at Holy Apostles Parish at St. Stephen of Hungary Catholic Church, 854 Wilson Ave., with ashes to be distributed.

First Federated Church, 10786 Mahoning Ave., North Jackson: Evening of reflection at 7 p.m. in sanctuary. The church is home of three denominations — Disciples of Christ, Presbyterian and United Church of Christ.

PRESBYTERIAN

Canfield Presbyterian Church, 140 W. Main St., Canfield: Joint worship service with other Presbyterian congregations and combined choirs in service with communion at 7 p.m.

First Presbyterian Church, 3654 Main St., Mineral Ridge: Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m. preceded by light soup supper starting at 6.

Kinsman Presbyterian Church, 6383 Church St., Kinsman: Service planned at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Liberty Presbyterian Church, 1451 Churchill-Hubbard Road, Liberty: Liberty and First Presbyterian Church of Girard will join together in a worship service at 6:30 p.m. The Rev. Deborah Dockstader of First Presbyterian will preach and Liberty’s pastor, Dr. Bob Loch, will lead the service.

Westminister Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Drive, Boardman: Service is planned at 4 p.m. in the chapel.

Mount Olivet United Church of Christ, 410 W. South Range Road, North Lima, will conduct a service at 7 p.m.
