Police arrested two people on felony heroin possession charges Thursday and one on a felony cocaine charge.

Danny Sims, 37, of Bonnie Brae Avenue, is in the Mahoning County jail on $5,000 bond after his arraignment in municipal court Friday before Magistrate Anthony Sertick on charges of possession of heroin and driving under suspension.

Reports said a car Sims was driving was pulled over about 7 p.m. Thursday in a parking lot at 2519 Glenwood Ave. by vice-squad officers Frank Bigowsky and James Welch for an improper turn. When the officers walked up to the car, they saw a bag of heroin on the front seat and a piece of paper with a dose of suspected heroin inside it on the floor, reports said.

A records check also showed that Sims has nine open suspensions on his license. He was taken to the jail pending his arraignment.

Also arraigned on a charge of possession of heroin, possession of a drug-abuse instrument, possession of drug paraphernalia and receiving stolen property was Angela Trice-Harris, 35, of Lakewood Avenue. She was arrested about 12:45 a.m. Thursday after officer Michael Sobinovsky pulled over a car she was driving on Park Avenue near Belmont Avenue that was reported stolen out of Liberty.

Reports said the officers found a crack pipe, syringe and a dose of suspected heroin in her purse. She also had two warrants from municipal court and one from Liberty, reports said. Her arraignment information was not available Friday.

Arrested on a charge of possession of cocaine at Willis and Hillman avenues was Nyesha Peeples, 29, of Willis Avenue, who reports said was driving a car on the wrong side of the road about 2 p.m. Thursday and was pulled over by officer Jessica Shields. Reports said at first, the car turned around into the right direction when Shields turned on her siren but she did not stop for several hundred feet.

Reports said Peeples appeared very nervous and did not want to get out of the car after a records check revealed she had a suspended license, but she did eventually get out. When she was searched, a rock of suspected crack cocaine was found in her shoe, reports said. Her bond was set at $10,000.

Shields also cited Dana Carano, 24, of New Middletown on charges of impeding the flow of traffic and possession of marijuana after she was found slumped over about 1 p.m. in a car she was driving that was stopped at the intersection of Garfield Avenue and Market Street with the driver’s door open.

Reports said Carano told Shields she had the flu, and when asked if she was in the neighborhood to buy drugs, she said no but did admit taking drugs before with her boyfriend.

Carano also had a bulge in her shirt that was not normal, and when she was searched by Shields, the officer discovered two bags of suspected marijuana in her bra. She was issued citations and released with a court date.
