POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Jan. 26

Theft: An Austintown woman reported that while at a Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road business, her purse, $100 and other items had been taken from her vehicle.

BOARDMAN

Jan. 28

Arrest: Officers arrested 32-year-old Ashley M. Miller at her Lemans Drive apartment. The Boardman woman was accused of failing to appear in court.

Assault: An Alburn Drive man suffered a swollen left eyebrow, a broken front tooth and an injured lip after telling police he had been beaten up in the 3900 block of Hudson Drive.

Identity fraud: An elderly Arden Boulevard woman alleged her caregiver had stolen, forged and cashed some of her checks.

Theft: Authorities at Boardman Area Court on Market Street arrested Evan T. Mikulka of Slippery Rock Drive, Canfield, on one felony theft charge as well as on five misdemeanor theft counts. Mikulka, 31, was accused of stealing merchandise that included handbags, purses and backpacks on several occasions from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall.

Harassment: A worker for a Boardman-Poland Road restaurant said a former co-worker had sent her multiple unwanted text messages.

Jan. 29

Arrest: Edoria L. Franklin of West Earle Avenue, Youngstown, was taken into custody at a Market Street motel. The 46-year-old Franklin was wanted on a probation-violation charge from Liberty Township.

Theft: Authorities arrested 47-year-old Carl Wallace at Southern Park Mall on a theft warrant. Wallace, of Idora Avenue, Youngstown, was accused of stealing about $457 worth of groceries, including three packages of steaks, from Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive.

Identity fraud: An elderly Lockwood Boulevard woman reported a caller claiming to be an Internal Revenue Service agent said she owed nearly $15,000 in back taxes while trying to obtain her bank information.

Arrest: Police arrested 38-year-old Raymond L. Kennedy Jr. on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired. Earlier, the Oswego, N.Y., man had struck and damaged a shopping-cart corral at Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive, a report said.

Theft: Anthony P. Divencenzo Jr., 33, of Oakview Drive, Girard, was charged with theft and possession of drug-abuse instruments after three hats were stolen from Fanzz, a sports-apparel store in Southern Park Mall. Divencenzo, who also was wanted on a felony warrant, had two syringes in his coat pocket, a report showed.

Identity theft: A Wolosyn Circle woman discovered on her bank statement several unauthorized charges that had originated at two area car washes.

Breaking and entering: A Youngstown woman reported two boxes containing various household items stolen from a storage locker in the 7400 block of South Avenue. The loss came to $3,000.

Drugs: A township girl, 17, faced one felony count each of drug possession and theft of prescription drugs after two officials with Boardman High School, 7777 Glenwood Ave., alleged the teen had a prescription bottle containing over-the-counter pills. Earlier, another student reported that pills had been removed from her backpack, a report showed.

Burglary: To a residence in the 200 block of Argyle Avenue after someone had entered a garage and kicked in a door to the home. A 30-inch TV, a remote-control device and a gold necklace were removed.

Stolen property: Authorities booked 23-year-old Brittany M. Brooks of West Quarry Street, Newton Falls, on a misdemeanor receiving-stolen-property charge after saying Brooks admitted having returned stolen items to Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive, in exchange for a gift card.

Arrest: A vehicle check on Doral Drive resulted in the arrest of 42-year-old Simeon L. Felder, who listed Youngstown addresses on Curtis and Rosewood avenues. He was wanted on a Trumbull County warrant charging failure to appear in court.

Theft: A township woman noticed her wallet missing from her purse as she shopped at a Boardman-Canfield Road store.

Misuse of a credit card: A Locust Avenue woman found out her stolen credit card had been used to make a $204 withdrawal from a Southern Park Mall automated teller machine.

Drugs: A traffic stop on Market Street led to charges of possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia against 18-year-old Emanuel K. Valentin of Shields Road, Boardman. Ten grams of suspected marijuana and a digital scale with suspected marijuana residue were found, police alleged.

Jan. 30

Arrest: Police charged 36-year-old Benjamin Wienand of Woodrow Avenue, Boardman, with criminal trespassing after his wife alleged Wienand was at her residence in violation of conditions of his bond.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a warehouse belonging to Angelilli Builders, 6001 Southern Blvd., and damaged an office door.

Theft: A woman reported three sets of keys stolen while at a McClurg Road business.

Menacing: An employee with a U.S. Route 224 sporting-goods store told police two women had threatened her.

Theft: A man reportedly stole $80 worth of T-shirt packages from Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd.

Possible theft: A Glenwood Avenue woman suspected a man of stealing some of her mail, including a check she was expecting.

Menacing: A worker for a Tiffany Boulevard grocery store alleged a co-worker had threatened her life.

Theft: A 15-year-old Youngstown girl accused of stealing $407 worth of merchandise from Macy’s also was wanted on a warrant from the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center in Youngstown.

Assault: Police responded to a report of a large fight at Southern Park Mall, where a township man complained of chest pain after reporting he had been assaulted.

Theft: Myles E. Washington, 18, of West Chalmers Avenue, Youngstown, along with a 16-year-old Youngstown girl, faced a theft charge after a food item and two pieces of makeup were stolen from Family Dollar, 4030 Market St. Washington also was charged with obstructing official business when, police said, he lied about his age.

Arrest: Officers received information about a possibly intoxicated motorist, then charged Landon W. Deflorville, 24, of Butcher Road, Leetonia, with operating a vehicle impaired.

Jan. 31

Arrest: While answering a dispute call in the 800 block of Cook Avenue, officers took into custody 28-year-old Deon L. Elliott of Cook, Boardman, who was wanted on a probation-violation charge from Liberty Township.

Theft: Authorities charged Bessie M. Taylor of South Avenue, Boardman, after alleging the 36-year-old Taylor had stolen a bottle of body wash from Family Dollar, 4026 South Ave.

Arrest: Nick J. Kropolinsky, 47, of Erskine Avenue, Boardman, was taken into custody after police had pulled him over near Woodrow Avenue. He was charged with operating a vehicle impaired.

Citation: Police responded to a report of someone possibly slumped over in a car on South Avenue before citing 38-year-old Lilliam Rosado of Saranac Avenue, Youngstown, on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired.

Theft: Michael H. Tomlin, 32, of Wellington Drive, Youngstown, and 55-year-old Diana L. Cinque of East Florida Avenue, Youngstown, were charged with theft and complicity to theft, respectively, after two men’s jackets valued at $770 were stolen from Macy’s. Tomlin also was wanted on a probation-violation charge from Trumbull County.

Arrest: While dealing with an altercation at a Boardman-Canfield Road store, officers charged a 15-year-old New Waterford girl with obstructing official business and resisting arrest. The teen refused to return home with her mother, then led authorities on a foot chase and, once apprehended, tried to struggle with police, a report stated.

Domestic violence: Rachel Sellers, 37, of Squirrel Hill Drive, Boardman, was charged with the crime after her husband alleged that during an argument, Sellers had scratched his face deeply enough to cause bleeding.

Theft: Two men reportedly stole three wireless speakers from Walmart.

Arrest: A traffic stop near Midlothian Boulevard led to the arrest of 34-year-old Arthur L. Finley of Roxbury Avenue, Youngstown, who was wanted on a contempt-of-court charge.

Feb. 1

Theft: Police at the Trumbull County jail took custody of 31-year-old Eric J. Whetstone, who was wanted on two counts of theft related to two shoplifting situations in July 2014. Whetstone, of North Park Avenue, Cortland, was accused of stealing more than a total of $2,200 worth of merchandise from Hope Depot, 7001 Southern Blvd., and Lowe’s, 1100 Doral Drive.

Burglary: Took place at an apartment in the 30 block of Shields Road. The unit sustained about $950 in damage.

Theft: A woman discovered her purse missing from her Market Street apartment.

Arrest: Police in the 9000 block of Market Street arrested 31-year-old Stephanie R. Lattanzio of Terrace Drive, Boardman, on warrants charging two counts of drug possession and one each of theft and possession of drug-abuse instruments. She was accused of fraudulently returning $64 worth of writing utensils Oct. 23, 2015, to Walmart.

Theft: A man reportedly fled from a Shell True North gas station, 5135 Market St., after having stolen a case of beer.

Harassment: A Hopkins Road woman said her former boyfriend has sent her multiple such text messages.

Theft: Angelica D. Jenkins, 27, of Howard Street, Youngstown, was charged with stealing 10 pieces of merchandise, including a compact disc, from Walmart.

Theft: A man reportedly stole $86 worth of cologne from the J.C. Penney store in Southern Park Mall.

Theft/criminal damaging: A 30-inch TV and a Sony PlayStation 2 game system were taken from an apartment in the 4500 block of Southern Boulevard. Also, a window pane had been smashed.

Feb. 2

Criminal damaging: A storm window was broken, resulting in a $200 damage estimate, to an apartment in the 5700 block of Sheridan Road.
