5 Squared art show
5 Squared art show
The third annual FIVE Squared art show and sale opens Sunday with a free reception from 1 to 2:30 p.m., and runs through March 7 at the Davis Family YMCA, on McClurg Road in Boardman. A raffle will take place at 2 p.m., with 10 winners getting a guaranteed place in line when the sale opens at 2:30 p.m. on a first come, first served basis. All art is hung anonymously. Once pieces are sold, the artists’ names are revealed. This year, more than 200 local, national and international artists donated 610 5-inch-by-5-inch pieces of art. Among the donations are pieces from disabled children at a Russian orphanage. Each piece is $25 (adult) or $10 (youth). Seven larger works by well-known regional artists – including Al Bright, Nancy Hawkins, Jim O’Malley, Paula Smith, Gary Taneri and Don Wright – will be presented at a silent auction. All of the art can be viewed at ymcaart.blogspot.com. For information, call 330-480-5656.
