Avalon downtown pizzeria posts 'closed' sign

YOUNGSTOWN — The Avalon Downtown pizzeria has closed.

The restaurant, located at 17 W. Federal St., is co-owned by Angelina Snyder and Anne Massullo Sabella.

Avalon's website, avalondowntown.com, had this message this afternoon:

"Thanks for the support from all our loyal customers, but we are officially closed.

Thank you, Avalon Downtown."

A sign inside the external door of the business reads “Closed Thank you,” and brown paper hangs on the restaurant’s second set of double doors.

Youngstown Mayor John A. McNally said he received a call from one of the owners this morning informing him of the closure.
