Bank-robbery arrest

CAMPBELL

Police arrested a Youngstown man who they said robbed a Campbell bank late Monday afternoon.

According to police reports, Lt. Kevin Sferra and officer Robert Curtis arrested Orlando Popa, 26, Detroit Avenue, on a robbery charge. The officers made the arrest after Popa was leaving the bank at 3:47 p.m. Popa had taken $1,000 cash from Huntington Bank on McCartney Road, police said.

Arraigned in court

YOUNGSTOWN

A man who reports said threatened to blow up the city police station Friday was arraigned Monday in municipal court.

Derrick Haywood, 26, of Woodcrest Avenue, has a preliminary hearing Feb. 18 on a charge of making false alarms. He also was arraigned Monday on an unrelated criminal-trespass charge.

Police were sent to Haywood’s home about 6:20 p.m. Friday after the 911 center received a call from someone threatening to blow up the police station. Haywood was arrested and taken to the Mahoning County jail. He was in the police department earlier in the day after he was arrested on the criminal-trespass charge and wanted to file a report with the Internal Affairs Division. Haywood was booked into the jail then released pending his arraignment.

Calls lead to charges

GIRARD

A city man will be arraigned today on charges of driving under the influence, public indecency and violating the city’s open-container law.

Police stopped James Davey of Girard on Thursday evening near West Prospect and Commerce Streets after receiving two calls about erratic driving in the area.

A police report states Davey had three open beer cans in his truck and that he smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech. Davey declined to take a blood-alcohol-content test, police added.

Investigating burglary

CAMPBELL

Police are investigating a burglary reported Saturday from a Bright Avenue home. A resident reported two televisions were stolen while she was out of town. Two basement windows were broken, according to a police report.

Acquisition done

EAST LIVERPOOL

Prime Healthcare Foundation and River Valley Health Partners on Monday announced that Prime Healthcare has completed its acquisition of River Valley Health Partners, which includes East Liverpool City Hospital, River Valley Physicians LLC, and Ohio Valley Home Health Services, Inc. The entities will retain their not-for-profit status as members of the Prime Healthcare Foundation, an affiliate of Prime Healthcare Services, according to a news release.
