Youngstown man faces drug charges
LIBERTY — A man is charged with trafficking in crack cocaine and possession of heroin after a traffic stop near Holly Avenue on Sunday morning.
Police stopped Kevin Johnson, 24, of Youngstown for driving under suspension, according to a police report. Johnson smelled of alcohol and marijuana, and shouted derogatory remarks at officers.
After being told he was under arrest, Johnson went into a nearby apartment complex on Holly Avenue before he was handcuffed, police said.
Police searched Johnson and found five small bags of suspected crack cocaine in his pocket, according to the report.
Police later found another small bag of suspected crack cocaine and a small bag of suspected heroin in the back of the police cruiser where Johnson was held. Police video footage shows Johnson throwing the two bags out of his pocket while in the cruiser, police reported.
Johnson was booked into the Trumbull County Jail on Sunday. He also is charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
He was on parole for a felony drug-possession charge at the time of his arrest, police said.
