Woman charged after driving over embankment in Liberty

A woman will be arraigned Tuesday in Girard Municipal Court after reportedly crashing her car after driving over an embankment near the parking lot of Walmart on Goldie Road Friday.

Catherine Powers, 68, of Youngstown is charged with driving under the influence, driving without a valid license and violating open container law.

Police responded to the scene of the crash and reported Powers smelled of alcohol and had glassy eyes. Powers declined to take a blood alcohol content test, but police reported she failed a series of field sobriety tests.

Powers had a mixed alcoholic drink in a plastic cup in her car, according to a police report.
