ACLD accepting eligible special-needs students

The ACLD School and Learning Center is accepting students who are eligible for Ohio’s Special Needs Scholarship Program for the 2016-17 school year.

Parents can work with the ACLD School and Learning Center to complete the application process, and ACLD will submit the application to the Ohio Department of Education on behalf of the family.

“We believe that all students can learn if they are given the right tools and taught through methods that reflect the way they learn,” said Erica Brown Fire, director.

The deadline to apply for the Special Needs Scholarship Program is April 15. Because the application process can be lengthy, parents of eligible children should contact ACLD as soon as possible. The Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship Program provides scholarships to children with special needs who have an Individualized Education Program. Scholarship amounts are based on the child’s special-need category and will not exceed $27,000.

Ensemble performance scheduled at Thiel College

GREENVILLE. PA.

International award-winning ensemble Vox Luminis will perform at Thiel College’s David Johnson Memorial Chapel at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 11. The performance is part of the college’s Con Spirito Chamber Music Concert Series.

Vox Luminis – founded in 2004 in Namur, Belgium – is an ensemble specializing in the performance of 16th through 18th-century vocal music. Critics praise the ensemble for its seamless blend of high-quality individual voices, exquisite tuning and clarity of sound.

Valley Christian School plans Literacy Day event

YOUNGSTOWN

Valley Christian School invites children in kindergarten through sixth grades to its annual Literacy Day event at the main campus from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The event is open and free to the public.

The event is designed to celebrate all the wonder of reading. Activities include stories, crafts, snacks and other attractions.
