Austintown police make another prostitution arrest

Staff report

aUSTINTOWN

Township police arrested a woman, accused of soliciting her services Wednesday for prostitution.

While investigating advertisements on an online classified site, officers found a listing titled “morning time delight,” asking potential clients to “take a break from life and reward yourself with me.”

Officers sent a text message to the advertised number, and a woman identifying herself as Sophie offered several services ranging from $60 to $220, according to a police report.

She asked to meet the officers at a Mahoning Avenue gas station, according to the report.

Officers made contact with Katherine Sakalosh, 32, of Youngstown at the gas station at 1:30 p.m. She was charged with soliciting and possession of criminal tools – the cellphone used to solicit and a contraceptive. Both charges are misdemeanors.

Sakalosh told officers she has been involved in prostitution for a month and a half, according to the report.

Police also served a bench warrant on Sakalosh for failure to comply with Youngstown Municipal Court on an original charge of possession of dangerous drugs. She will appear in Mahoning County Area Court on Wednesday.

This is the third prostitution arrest made by township police this month by investigating advertisements on online classified websites. Police also arrested a suspect on the same charges last month.
