YMTA competition awards given

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown Music Teachers Association annual competition of juniors and seniors who are music majors at Dana School of Music took place Dec. 10 at Bliss Hall, 524 Wick Ave.

This year a total of $1,300 was awarded to a number of contestants. Hailey Baker, flute, and Michael Nichols, piano, each earned $300 and will perform at the YMTA Butler North recitals.

Cynthia Evans, member of YMTA, awarded $650 in memory of her husband Paul Evans to the following students: Stefan Funderburke, voice, $250; Maria Koch, organ, $125; Aaron Gutauckas, voice, $125; Cayla Conrad, clarinet, $50; Emma Donkin, piano, $50; Nadia Stratton, flute, $50; and Angelique Tanner, voice, $50.

Karen Hunt awarded $50 to Maria Koch for her continued organ studies.
