Woman faces charges in stolen-gun case

CAMPBELL

A woman was arraigned Tuesday in Campbell Municipal Court after police charged her in connection with a stolen gun.

Campbell police stopped Shasta Zambraba, 46, of Youngstown last Thursday night near Wilson and Hazeltine avenues for an unlit headlight. A police report states officers searched the car after Zambraba turned over a cigar, which police said contained suspected marijuana.

Officers reported finding a gun that had been listed as stolen through the Youngstown Police Department.

Zambraba will appear Friday for a pretrial hearing. A judge set her bond Tuesday at $6,000. Zambraba faces charges of receiving stolen property, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and improper headlights.

During chase, cop punctures his hand

YOUNGSTOWN

A police officer punctured his hand late Tuesday while trying to scale a fence during a foot chase on the South Side, reports said.

Reports said police pulled over a car about 11:55 p.m. driven by Demond Belton, 21, of West Auburndale Avenue, for running a stop sign.

Reports said Belton ran away and was chased on foot before he was tackled by another officer. He was arrested on charges of obstructing official business and resisting arrest. A juvenile passenger was arrested on drug charges after several bags of suspected crack cocaine were found in the car next to the passenger.

The officer was treated for the puncture wound.

Woman is jailed, accused in stabbing

YOUNGSTOWN

An East Lucius Avenue woman is in the Mahoning County jail after reports said she was arrested about 6:45 a.m. Tuesday after being accused of stabbing a man in the hand.

Brayasha Clark, 23, is expected to be arraigned today in municipal court on a charge of felonious assault.

Police were called to the home and found a man bleeding from a stab wound to the hand.

The victim told police that Clark was angry when she was awakened by several people in her bedroom. Police found a knife outside in the snow and took it for evidence.

Police seek driver in fatal hit-and-run

NEW CASTLE, PA.

New Castle police are searching for the driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run case in the area of 700 E. Washington St. on Monday.

Geraldine Olivia, 54, was hit by a pair of cars while crossing East Washington Street on Tuesday, according to a news release.

Olivia was pronounced dead at the scene.

Though the first driver stopped after hitting Olivia, the second driver – who hit Olivia while she was on the ground – drove away. Police ask anyone with information regarding the second driver to contact their tip line or call directly at 724-656-3585.

Council to meet

LORDSTOWN

Lordstown Village Council will have a special meeting at 9 a.m. today at the administration building, 1455 Salt Springs Road. The purpose of the meeting is to consider legislation in order to wrap up year-end business.
