A checklist of local, state and federal institutions and local businesses closed various days on New Year’s Day, which will be celebrated on Monday. Residents of communities not listed should check their governmental office schedules.

City offices: Youngstown, Warren, Niles, Salem, Sharon, closed Monday; New Castle, early closing noon Friday; closed Monday; Newton Falls Municipal Court, closed Friday and Monday.

County offices: Mahoning, Columbiana, Mercer, Lawrence, closed Monday; Trumbull, early closing 12:30 Friday, closed Monday.

State offices: Closed Monday.

Federal offices: Closed Monday. No mail delivery Monday.

Schools: Youngstown, Warren, Niles, Salem, Sharon, New Castle, Youngstown Diocese, closed through Tuesday.

Universities: Youngstown State, closed through Jan. 8; Kent State University at Trumbull, Eastern Gateway Community College, closed through Jan. 16.

Western Reserve Transit Authority: Closed Monday.

Public libraries: Youngstown-Mahoning County, Kinsman Free Public Library, Girard Free Library; Newton Falls Public Library, closed Saturday through Monday; Hubbard Public Library, closed Monday; Bristol Public Library, Bristolville, McKinley Memorial Library, Niles, closed Friday through Monday; Warren-Trumbull, closed Sunday and Monday.

Stock market: Stifel Nicolaus, closed Monday.

Banks: Chase Bank; Charter One; Cortland Banks; First National Bank; Home Federal Savings & Loan; Home Savings & Loan; Key Bank; PNC Ohio;, PNC Pennsylvania; Farmers National Bank; Talmer Bank, Warren; Huntington Bank, Austintown; closed Monday.
