A man wanted for more than a year on a weapons charge from Liberty Township was arrested early Wednesday on another weapons charge after a foot chase on the East Side.

Eric Moore, 22, of Bennington Avenue, was arraigned Wednesday in municipal court on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, carrying concealed weapons, obstructing official business and driving under suspension. Visiting Judge Richard Reinbold set his bond at $30,000.

Reports said Moore was arrested about 12:05 a.m. behind a garage in the 700 block of Katherine Street after he ran from a traffic stop. Police tried to pull over a car he was driving after it made an improper turn from McGuffey Road onto Magnolia Avenue.

The car stopped abruptly, and Moore ran through a wooded area before he was caught. Also behind the garage where police found him was a loaded .40-caliber Glock semiautomatic handgun, reports said.

Besides the weapons charges, reports said Moore also is wanted on a warrant through Liberty Township police on weapons charges, and he has a robbery conviction that prohibits him from carrying a firearm. Assistant city Prosecutor Kathy Thompson told Judge Reinbold that the robbery conviction is a fourth-degree felony, and it happened when Moore was a juvenile.

Records from Girard Municipal Court show Moore was charged Nov. 27, 2015, with carrying concealed weapons by Liberty police. The court issued a warrant for Moore’s arrest Dec. 17, 2015, but court records do not say why the warrant was issued.
