Atty. Christopher Shaker to run for judge of Niles Municipal Court

NILES — Atty. Christopher Shaker will file nominating petitions Tuesday at the Trumbull County Board of Elections seeking to be elected Niles Municipal Court judge for the term beginning in 2018.

A Niles native, Shaker, 58, will run in the May 2 Democratic primary. He has been practicing law since 1983 in downtown Niles at the same location as his father, the late Judge Mitchell Shaker of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.

He and his brother, Robert Shaker, have been partners at the Shaker & Shaker Law Firm for 30 years.

In his career, he has been an assistant county prosecutor, represented Weathersfield and McDonald school districts and was a juvenile prosecutor.

He serves as an acting judge in the Niles Municipal Court on behalf of the current judge, Thomas Townley, who will retire at the end of 2017 after 30 years on the bench.

The court serves the city of Niles, Weathersfield Township and the village of McDonald.
