Dana music school sets horn workshop
YOUNGSTOWN
The Dana School of Music’s fifth annual horn workshop will take place Jan. 8 from noon to 5 p.m. in Bliss Recital Hall, which is on the lower level of Bliss Hall, on Wick Avenue, on the Youngstown State University campus.
The event is geared toward high school and college horn players.
Guest clinician is Richard King, a member of the Cleveland Orchestra.
The clinic is free and open to the public and musicians of all levels. It is particularly helpful for students who will participate in solo ensemble competitions and for those who will be auditioning.
Students should bring their own instruments but do not need to bring sheet music.
The clinic will include a recital by Stacie Mickens, assistant professor of horn at Dana and event organizer; a question-and-answer session; master class with King; and a horn display by Motter’s Music.
Free parking will be available in the M32 Wick Avenue surface parking lot, located near the MVR, behind Bliss Hall.
Patrons are advised to watch for posted detours as construction progresses on Wick Avenue.
Reservations are encouraged by emailing srmickens@ysu.edu.
