United Way donation

Home Savings Charitable Foundation recently donated a check for $3,000 to United Way of Trumbull County.

The funds will be used for the 2017 annual UW campaign.

Private screening of ‘Hidden Figures’

The Women in Entrepreneurship Program at the Youngstown Business Incubator will host a free private screening of the new film “Hidden Figures” at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 6 at Austintown Regal Cinema, 6020 Mahoning Ave.

“Hidden Figures,” an untold true story, is about a team of black women who provide NASA with important mathematical data needed to launch the program’s first successful space missions.

Seating is limited to 100 tickets.

TAX 29 to open office in Cortland

WARREN

After 10 years of business in the Mahoning Valley and preparing more than 8,000 tax returns for the 2015 tax year, TAX 29 is opening up a second office in the Mahoning Valley on Jan. 2.

TAX 29 will have a grand-opening celebration for the new Cortland office, at 2170 Millennium Blvd., at 9 a.m.

Free tax consultations for area residents will be given for all interested.

Seminar on workplace stress

WARREN

The Mahoning Valley Safety Council will have a Stress in the Workplace seminar from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 11 at Avalon Inn, 9519 E. Market St.

At the event, Natasha Cramer and Sue Trimacco of Meridian Healthcare will discuss the hazards associated with workplace stress and provide steps on how to manage the stressors to create a healthier and safer workforce.

The cost is $25 for Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber members and $35 for nonmembers.

Seminar on small businesses

OAK HARBOR, Ohio

The U.S. Small Business Administration Cleveland office will have a Small Business Basics seminar from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Feb. 1 at Ottawa County Improvement Corp., 8043 West State Route 163, Conference Room.

Small Business Basics is a free, two-hour seminar that will answer questions about starting, buying or expanding a small business.

The seminar will take the confusion out of small-business owners’ efforts, and help those owners avoid costly mistakes and unnecessary steps.
