Peggy DiBattista (1929-2016) Bowling achievements


1950 — Selected to the Southern California all—star team.

1951 — Won the Citrus Belt Singles Classic, San Bernardino Singles Classic and Riverside Luxon Singles Classic in L.A.

1951 — Placed third in W.I.B.C. Doubles in Seattle.

1954 — Doubles champion in W.I.B.C. tournament in Buffalo.

1961 — Became a member of Brunswick advisory staff and conducted clinics throughout the Great Lakes area. Became a member of the Professional Women’s Bowling Association (the first area woman to become a member). Organized the first Women’s Trio League at Champion Lanes. Instrumental in organizing the BPA Traveling Ladies League. Received instructor certification from the AJBC, Brunswick and AMF.

1962 — Competed in World Invitational; placed fifth in PWBA tournament in Cleveland.

1965 — Placed first in PWBA tournament in Columbus.

1965-76 — Director of the Youngstown Women’s Bowling Association for 11 years.

1969 — Runner-up in PWBA tournament in Canton.

DiBattista also carried the highest average in the city association for many years, including a 197 in 1975; all—events winner in city tournament eight years, including 1766 in 1958. She had a high three—game 712 set, highest single game (289 in 1953); was Youngstown Mixed Doubles champ twice and competed in 12 all—star and U.S. Open tournaments; received Helms Athletic Foundation certificate for outstanding performance in Los Angeles Bowling Association in 1951. Other tournaments won include the Broma Singles Classic in Steubenville, the Rainbow Classic in Detroit and the Mar—Hill Mixed Doubles in Youngstown.

1978 — Inducted into the YWBA Hall of Fame.

1978 — Member of the Champion Pro Shop team that was runner-up in the nation with 3,181.

1979 — Member of the Champion Pro Shop team that finished first in the nation with a team score of 3165. The team comprised DiBattista, Mary O’Hare, Marie Scott, Rose Smith and Loretta Smith.
