Preschool grant

The YWCA of Youngstown’s Discovery Place Preschool recently received a $3,000 grant from the PNC Foundation in recognition of the volunteer efforts of PNC Bank employees through the PNC Grow Up Great “Grants for Great Hours” program. The program recognizes the efforts of outstanding PNC employees who volunteer with nonprofit early education and school readiness programs. PNC staff members completed 100 hours of volunteer service for the Discovery Place program. The grant will help YWCA of Youngstown to continue offering quality, affordable early care and education for children ages 6 weeks through 12 years. Face plant

YOUNGSTOWN

Officers arrested a Youngstown man after he ran from police and landed face-first on the ground Friday night. According to the report, Shawn Easterling, 21, of South Schenley Avenue, was removed from O’Donold’s Irish Pub and Grill, 122 W. Federal St., for doing drugs in the bathroom. Easterling then tried to flee when an officer tried to detain him and he fell on his face, reports say. Officers found a small plastic bag of marijuana on him. Easterling is charged with obstructing official business, resisting arrest and possession of marijuana.
