Writing workshop offered to students
SALEM
A writing workshop for students in grades 7 through 12 will meet from 4 to 5 p.m. on six consecutive Tuesdays beginning Jan. 17 at Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St., in its Quaker Room.
The event is sponsored by the Kent State-Salem English Club and Salem Public Library, and will involve various elements of music, film and popular young adult novels.
Topics will include School of Rock (storytelling through music), clip to script (how movies are written), and mini fiction — short to super-short stories. Students will work at their own pace but will be provided with sources of inspiration and instruction for short stories, flash fiction or writing their own songs or movie scripts.
Registration is required for each class through the library’s website at www.salem.lib.oh.us, or by calling 330-332-0042 or visit the library.
