Students at Poland North Preschool performed spooky science activities on Oct. 31 for Halloween.

Transitional kindergarten teacher Samantha Cox set up four stations for students to participate in.

There was a coloring station with Halloween pictures, a station were the students could wrap each other in toilet paper like a mummy, a sensory station where students reached their hands in to feel what was hidden inside an empty coffee container and a station with baking soda clumps and spray bottles of vinegar.

Joy Bucci’s class joined Cox’s class in participating in the different activities.

The students were separated into groups and they each took a turn at all of the stations.

Before the students engaged in the activities, they watched Cox make a volcano inside a pumpkin.

She mixed together dish soap, baking soda and vinegar inside a small pumpkin to make a foam come up and over the pumpkin to represent a volcano.

After all the students had the chance to explore all four stations, they participated in a relay race.

The students were divided into their two classes and races to put a ball from one basket into another at the other side of the hallway.

To finish the day, both classes went to the gymnasium to watch Terry Wittenauer’s class show off their Halloween costumes during the parade.
