Jeff Skinner and Justin Faulk scored for Carolina in a victory over Buffalo. Cam Ward made 22 saves and Sebastian Aho scored an empty-net goal in the final minute as the Hurricanes beat the Sabres for the second time in six days. Carolina has earned a point in four straight games. Brian Gionta scored for Buffalo and Robin Lehner made 31 saves. The Sabres have lost three in a row. Carolina had an extended layoff following Saturday’s 2-1 shootout win over Buffalo. Monday’s scheduled game against the Detroit Red Wings was postponed due to unplayable ice at PNC Arena.

NEWARK, N.J.
Cory Schneider made 16 saves in his first shutout of the season, and New Jersey beat Philadelphia to stop a seven-game losing streak. P.A. Parenteau, Miles Wood, Adam Henrique and Kyle Palmieri scored for New Jersey, which won for the first time since defeating Vancouver 3-2 on Dec. 6. The shutout was the 22nd of Schneider’s career, and first in 45 games. His previous one occurred on Jan. 16 last season, a 2-0 win over the Arizona Coyotes. Schneider’s 16 saves were the second-fewest he has made in a shutout.

Jaromir Jagr moved into the outright No. 2 spot on the NHL career scoring list, getting an assist in Florida’s loss to Boston. Jagr got point No. 1,888 to break a tie with Mark Messier. The historic point came with 6:40 left. Only Wayne Gretzky, with 2,857 points, has more than Jagr. Aleksander Barkov was credited with the goal that deflected off the 44-year-old Czech star.

TAMPA, FLA.
Alex Killorn scored a go-ahead goal early in the third period, Jonathan Drouin added two late goals and Tampa Bay rallied from a two-goal deficit to beat St. Louis. Killorn put Tampa Bay up 3-2 from the high slot 5:25 into the third period to help the Lightning go 2-0 starting a stretch of seven of eight games at home. Drouin made it 4-2 with 1:40 remaining, a play that Blues goalie Jake Allen was hurt on trying to make a save, before adding an empty-netter.

OTTAWA, ONTARIO
Mike Hoffman scored a power-play goal at 4:03 of overtime to give Ottawa a victory over Anaheim. Hoffman’s one-timer on a pass from Dion Phaneuf beat John Gibson in the Anaheim goal. Andrew Cogliano took a high-sticking minor at 3:23 of the extra period, giving the Senators a four-on-three advantage. Ryan Dzingel scored in regulation for the Senators (20-11-3).
Wild 4, Canadiens 2
MONTREAL
Eric Staal’s short-handed goal in the third period broke a tie and helped Minnesota to a victory over Montreal, giving the Wild a ninth straight win that tied the team record. Jordan Schroeder and Jared Spurgeon also scored for the Wild (20-8-4), who last won nine in a row March 8-24, 2007. They have a chance to break the record Friday night against the Rangers in New York.
