SENIOR SIDELIGHTS

Guardian Angels of Trumbull County, a volunteer program of the Trumbull County Probate Court, is looking for volunteers. Angel volunteers receive training to become advocates who reach out as friends to seniors who may need a friendly phone call, a visit in a nursing home, or a visit at home. Angels also are involved in planning special events for seniors such as health fairs and Make a Difference day projects. Niles S.C.O.P.E. Senior Center, 14 E. State St., will offer the following activities: 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 6, foot care will be provided by Dr. Tom Pokabla. Regular co-pays apply; must have insurance card and an appointment; Jan. 12, free mammograms at Mercy Hospital Mammovan, must make an appointment and register; Jan. 16, free dental van from Mercy Hospital, call for an appointment; Jan. 20, blood screenings and blood pressures are tentatively scheduled; Jan. 24, American Red Cross blood drive.
