Downtown power restored after 5-hour outage

— YOUNGSTOWN

About 1,000 Ohio Edison customers in downtown Youngstown lost power this afternoon, including the Youngstown Police Department and the Mahoning County Sheriff’s office, but as of 9:45 p.m. power had been restored to customers affected by the outage.

A spokeswoman for Ohio Edison said the outage was an equipment problem at a substation about 4 p.m. caused by the low temperatures.
