Ohio’s unemployment rate goes unchanged

Ohio’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.9 percent in November, unchanged from October.
Ohio’s nonagricultural wage and salary employment increased 9,100 over the month, from a revised 5,497,300 in October to 5,506,400 in November, according to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services report released Friday.
The U.S. unemployment rate declined by 0.3 percent to 4.6 percent in November, and total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 178,000, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported. Employment gains occurred in professional and business services and in health care.
Local county unemployment figures will be released Tuesday.
Industries in Ohio that added jobs in November were: the goods-producing industry, the private sector, leisure and hospitality, financial activities and local and state government.
Losses were seen in manufacturing, mining and logging, educational and health services, trade, transportation and utilities, professional and business services, other services and the federal government.
The civilian labor force dropped from 5,729,000 in October to 5,713,000 in November.
