The Cornersburg Dairy Queen hosted its annual pumpkin hunt on Oct. 29.

The Dairy Queen has hosted the pumpkin hunt for about 10 years. Hundreds of people attend the event each year, dressed in costumes and ready to participate in the activities.

Children, ages 2-9, were invited to participate in a pumpkin hunt, get a picture taken with Curly the Cone, decorate a cupcake and other activities.

The children who came dressed in a costume were able to enter in a costume contest. There were several costume contest winners and each winner received different prizes.

“We do a free fall photo with kids in costumes that they can pick up any time after Wednesday. They’ll get a free photo with Curly the Cone and the blizzard inflatable,” said Dairy Queen owner Christine Smith.

The children were divided into two age groups for the pumpkin hunt. Children ages 2-5 went first and then children ages 6-9 searched in the straw area for mini pumpkins, candy and a golden spoon. Those who found a golden spoon received a free royal blizzard.

Children had the opportunity to color a pumpkin that they could take home or leave at Dairy Queen to be put on display at the store. Everyone who attended got a coupon for a free ice cream cone as a treat for coming to the event.

The pumpkin hunt gives the community an opportunity to celebrate fall and Halloween while participating in fun activities.

The Cornersburg Dairy Queen hosts different events during the holidays for children to participate in and also receive Dairy Queen treats.
