Warren man charged with soliciting at Austintown hotel

AUSTINTOWN
A Warren man faces prostitution-related charges after he purportedly solicited an undercover police officer at a North Canfield-Niles Road hotel.
LaTroy McMillian, 22, is charged with soliciting sex and possessing criminal tools, both misdemeanor offenses. The criminal tools charge relates to a cellphone, condoms, and sexual lubricant McMillian allegedly had in his possession.
The incident leading to his arrest occurred Tuesday, as part of a township police investigation into advertisements on a classifieds website, according to a police report.
An investigation of that website also led township police to arrest a woman on prostitution-related charges last month.
In this case, an officer responded to an ad under the “transsexual escort” section of the website with the headline: “Welcome to paradise dreams do come true.” McMillian reportedly went by the name “Tommie Pleasures.”
The pair arranged to meet at a hotel for an hour, at a cost of $150, according to the report. McMillian was arrested without incident.
He was arraigned in Mahoning County Area Court here Wednesday, where he entered a not-guilty plea. He is scheduled to be back in court Jan. 23.
